Successful Mayoral Forum

On April 30, NBN sponsored the first mayoral forum of the season. It was a chance for the three candidates    ̶    Scott Lennon, Ruthanne Fuller, and Amy Sangiolo   ̶   to tell us about themselves and answer questions from our five panelists, sometimes pretty tough ones.

The event was held for NBN members and people on our mailing list (like you), not for the general public.  We wanted to be able to focus directly on the issues that are our primary focus    ̶   residential and commercial development    ̶   plus the proposed new city charter, which we oppose and which will be on the ballot in November.

The event was a success. The room at the Woman’s Club of Newton Highlands was filled, and the candidates revealed a good deal about themselves and their views. Based on spontaneous applause and on the people we’ve talked to, there was a general consensus that Amy Sangiolo’s positions are most in line with our emphasis on community preservation and limited growth and density.

If you were at the event, we’d appreciate it if you let us know where you stand on the candidates and also what worked well or not so well at the forum. We may sponsor other such events later in the campaign season.

We recorded the event on video as well as a separate audio version. You can listen at http://yourlisten.com/NewtonVillagesAlliance/nbn-mayoral-candidate-forum-april-30-2017. The video version will be ready soon. We’ll let you know.
